2012 was a leap year. Soooo after waiting some time for the ring which was bought 3 years earlier (yes..Deb was very patient) Deb finally asked Dave to marry her. Swallowing his pizza, putting down his glass of wine, asking me to repeat the question, Dave answered OK. Witnesses Bridie and Julian were excited.
The next morning Deb asked Dave to share our good news with friends over breakfast. "What good news?" was Dave response. Patiently (like Job) Deb reminded him of the proposal the night before. "Were you serious?"was his response. "Of course" replied Deb. "Ok then, I guess we're engaged" Dave informed our friends.
And thus the engagement began
And the ring you may ask....well that was still a few months off.

Engaged (officially) in Bendigo 2012. Dave formally proposed and gave me the ring over dinner and champagne.
And why Mauritius ? has been the most asked question re the wedding.
Well the wish to visit Mauritius started years earlier when Deb read a book about it in her teens. The little seed was germinated.
Then when Dave and Deb were planning their very first trip overseas they came across a special deal to fly to France via Mauritius. The timing was wrong so this opportunity was lost. The little plant was fed and the desire was re-ignited.
Then the French trips increased and another idea took over. A house in the South of France was researched, trips to view property organised and finally a perfect house bought. Two years of searching for furniture, lessons in French, trips to Bangkok for antiques and some minor repairs to the house and voila...a French holiday house was a reality.
When we thought about the the wedding, and Deb suggested Mauritius, we both thought this would be a special, new place for us. They have weddings there all the time so the opportunity could be a reality, they speak French and English, it can be a stopover on the way to France and the island looks truly beautiful. Thus the place was chosen.
After researching the island and its many resorts Deb came across an article on the 10 best beach-side bars. The Shanti Maurice, Fish and Rhum Shack, was on the list and the resort also looked fantastic. Dave agreed and thus the numerous emails with the Flight Centre the wedding planner, the civil wedding planner and Daves colleague Bim began.
